Underway from Papaguyo, Costa Rica to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Day 1 of our 5 day trip. The owner left the boat yesterday after a month stay. That was Andrew and my longest guest trip EVER. :P This enabled us to get to know the boat really well and become pretty efficient in our jobs. Also due to lack of sleep and proper exercise I feel pretty ....bllaahhhh. Sore throat, cold, and double eye infection. But I couldn't be happier to have the boat moving to Mexico, WITH NO GUESTS! Crew are all doing well, happy to have my friend Bibi onboard as our temp chef. We work well together and make each other laugh constantly. Good galley vibes! Bibi's cooking has really helped my energy levels. Eating good is so important when you are working 13+ hours a day for weeks on end. I do have to tell you about one of her "not so shining" moments. We had the boss lady and 3 of her friends. All friendly, bubbly, housewives of Beverly Hills type women. They have been loving every minute of their time onboard. From the coffee made per their liking when they surface from their rooms, to the napkin folds, to the cocktail of the day, and endless Rosè at lunch, specialty coffees at tea time, you get the drift. Well one night they are enjoying a candle lit dinner on the aft deck, and on the menu is a chicken curry. The crew ate about an hour before guest dinner was to be served, so we all had this chicken curry. The crew devoured it, every bite. But we said to Bibi, "This could be a little spicy for the ladies." Bibi assured us, "I made two separate pots, theirs isn't as spicy as yours." So I serve the ladies their curry, they are very excited and dig in! I come back a few minutes later to check in and these ladies were Coughing, fanning themselves, making choking noises. I had to use every bit of restraint in my body to hold from laughing. I thought, these ladies are pansies. They can't handle a tiny bit of spice? So I reported this to Bibi, she tastes the curry and realizes she served them the crew curry and served us the mild guest curry! We went out with yogurt and crackers, kept the red wine glasses full to ease the spice. And still they were loosing it with how spicy the food was. I was laughing so hard because these ladies were struggling but continuing to eat the curry! I am reporting all of this to Bibi so she decides to go upstairs to apologize and offer another meal if they would like. They smile at Bibi and report that they have finished the curry! Like proud little girls cleaning their plates. Struck us all how these women who can be so particular about how they take their cosmos and what flowers they can't stand to see in the dining room floral arrangement just finished an entire bowl of ultra spicy curry.
